Hudson Cove (Oligocene of Antigua and Barbuda)

Also known as Sample A-6

Where: Antigua and Barbuda (17.0° N, 61.7° W: paleocoordinates 16.3° N, 60.8° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Globigerina ampliapertura to Globigerina optima optima foram zone, Antigua Formation, Late/Upper Oligocene (28.4 - 23.0 Ma)

• according to van den Bold, "the Oligocene-Miocene boundary" is at the top of the Globorotalia ciperoensis zone, which is immediately younger than the Antigua Formation

•"in most cases" the forams were found "a few feet higher or lower" than the ostracodes

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; poorly lithified, calcareous sandstone

• "soft calcareous sandstone above coral limestone and below alternating bands of hard calcareous sandstone and shelly limestone"

Size class: microfossils
